The protests on the day of the inauguration were much more intense than the day before, even with the violence that happened outside of the DeploraBall. Protests started early with groups shutting down security checkpoints to the Inaugural Parade. I started the day with the Communities Under Attack Fight Back protest who marched to John Marshall Park where another group was shutting down a checkpoint.
As different marches spread into the streets one group of black bloc protesters began smashing windows causing police to kettle, pepper spray, and to begin a mass arrest of that group. A larger group of protesters marched to the park and the intersection across the street from the arrests. After a confrontation, the police used flash-bang grenades and pepper spray to disperse the protesters. As they retreated they threw bricks and other objects at police and set fire to trash cans and a limousine.
